Default Favorite tennis balls...

We all talk about our racquets and our strings, but let's pay homage to that little piece of equipment that makes the whole thing possible: the tennis ball.
A pretty straight forward piece of equipment, but I think many will agree, not all are created equal. What ones are your favorite? For what surface?

I like Prince Tour Dynamic Core. I play on your basic outdoor court at the park, and they hold their bounce longer by far than anything else I've tried.

I'm down for the top of the line Dunlop balls. They seem to last long enough for two matches and seem to have a little more "bounce" to them. I'm convinced it's all in my head but I feel better cracking a can of Dunlops open more than I would a can of Wilsons and Penns.

For long lasting play....I can't beat the Slazenger Wimbledon 4 ball METAL can. The ball is a little heavy, but they're great and consistent. The old-school can works! It's like the difference between the carbonation of a drink in a can or a plastic bottle. They definitely come out hard! Their other ball comes in plastic and is nowhere near as "pressure-durable".

For a quicker game, I really like Wilson US Open's. They don't last as long as the Slazenger but when fresh they provide nice quick play.

I received some Ralph Lauren pink balls....but they're staying in THAT can forever!

For anyone out there with tennis elbow or other arm problems try the Dunlop Abzorber. Wilson balls generate 7% more energy than Dunlop, and Penn balls generate 8% more energy than Dunlop. That's a significant difference to a player with arm or elbow pain. More impact of energy creates more vibrations. More vibrations create more pain.

The few times I've hit with Prince tennis balls this summer they seem over-inflated and bounce like they have helium inside! That can be pretty weird on clay. And I didn't know you could still buy metal can balls. Those are worth a try.

I usually stick with the ProPenn ATP balls. They are a little on the expensive side but well worth it IMO.

I usually buy Dunlop Champs. They do seem to last longer than Penn or Wilson. So after a match they work fine in my serving ball bucket.

Have to second this as I really like the ProPenn ball. I will use the Wilson US Open ball sometimes, but the ProPenn ball is my standard.

Cheers, TennezSport
